Eastern PA LB prospect ready to make an impact

Exeter, PA - Wyoming Area head coach Paul Marranca raves about one of his star pupils. LB Tom Nocera, 6-4, 225, 4.6. "This kid is a player, someone is going to be very happy to land him." Said Marranca.

Nocera had 75 tackles and 3 sacks for the Warriors in 2003. Tom is also the starting TE for Wyoming. The most impressive thing about him is he excels in whatever he does. In the weight room he benches 335 lbs. and squats 515. In the classroom he carries a 3.0 GPA. He competes in track and field, running the 200, 400, and the 4x100 relay.

Purdue, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Army, and Maryland have shown the most interest in Tom so far. His early lists of favorites are Penn State, Purdue, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pittsburgh.

"I grew up on Penn State football, I really like them, and I am hoping they start showing some interest."

Nocera was invited to the Nike Combine at Penn State on May 15th, and he intends on camping at Penn State this summer.

What are the main things you are looking for in a school?

"I want to be part of a good football program. I would like to get a quality education, and good facilities are important too me as well."

How do you play the game?

"I play heads up, I am aggressive, and I play smart."

Some linebackers are headhunters, some use speed and angles of pursuit; which category fits you?

"I use my speed and pursue angles."

Who is your favorite player in college or the NFL?

"I like Derrick Brooks from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers."

What are your goals for the 2004 season?

"To play as a team and not make any mistakes that could cost the team."

Will you be an early commit or make a signing day decision?

"I am going to wait and make sure I make the right decision."
