Race heating up for Virginia lineman

Everyone eyes up those big bookend tackles. However, another key to success is to have mobile pulling guards. While they may not get the publicity that the big tackles get, teams still cherish them. One of the best run blocking and pulling guards in Virginia is getting his fair share of the glory.

North Stafford High School guard Antonio North, 6-4, 305, 5.2, is that type of player. North is strong and possesses a 365 lb. bench press and a 425 lb. squat. His ability to drive block with intensity is how he gets his attention.

"I am a pulling guard, that's what I do. I am a very aggressive run blocker."

Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Virginia Tech have been showing Antonio the most interest. These schools just so happen to be the ones Antonio likes as well.

This summer North will attend the Maryland and Virginia camps. He also has tentative plans to attend the Nike Combine at the University of Virginia.

Following the 2003 season, North was awarded 1st Team All-District honors, 2nd Team All-Region, and various newspapers' all-star awards.

What kind of goals does North have for 2004?

"I want to get stronger, and help my team do better."

When will you make a decision?

"When I get the right offer."
