Erie Cathedral Prep standout adds Pittsburgh offer

According to Erie Cathedral Prep Head Coach Mike Mischler The University of Pittsburgh has offered LB Andre Mathis 6-3, 225, 4.6 a scholarship. Mischler found out this morning that Pittsburgh was sending the offer.

Coach Mischler escorted Andre and a few of his teammates to Pittsburgh on Saturday to watch spring practice. Pittsburgh didn't show an early interest in Andre, but Mischler received a call from Coach Bob Junko recently asking for tape on Andre and standout safety James Carson who is also Andre's cousin.

In addition to his Pittsburgh offer Mathis has been offered by West Virginia, Penn State, and Syracuse. The 2nd Team Associated Press All-State selection is quickly becoming the most sought after Linebacker prospect in Pennsylvania.

Andre Mathis' list of favorites include Michigan, Miami, Iowa, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Penn State. He plans on majoring in Engineering.

Mischler has a few ex Cathedral Prep players on the Panther roster including starting Running Back candidate Jawon Walker and OT Dale Williams who is on the spring depth chart as the starting left tackle.
