Ohio athlete has a decision to make

St. Vincent-St. Mary's High School in Akron, Ohio rose to prominence last winter with the nationally broadcast games featuring LeBron James. LeBron led the team to a state championship, fending off a pesky Ottawa-Glandorf team. This season, Ottawa-Glandorf exacted some revenge beating St.Vincent-St. Mary's in the regional championship game.

One of the key players for St.Vincent-St. Mary's is Lawrence Wilson, who averaged 15 ppg and 7 rpg after transferring from Walsh-Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Several colleges are eyeing the 1st team Ohio Division 2 All-State selection, including Vanderbilt and Butler. The dilemma facing him is the fact that he is a standout DE as well. The 6-6, 225, 4.6 Wilson tallied 15 sacks last season. There are a few teams who are recruiting him as a wide receiver. Lawrence has been toying with the idea of playing both sports at the next level.

Michigan, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Notre Dame have been the most consistent pursuers of Wilson the football player. Those four schools also happen to be the favorites to land his services. Wilson has visited Pittsburgh and Michigan for their junior day programs. This Saturday, April 3rd, he will venture to South Bend, Indiana for Notre Dame's junior day. After that it is off to Columbus for Ohio State's junior day.

This summer, Wilson will have a busy schedule, as he will attend the Adidas camp at Notre Dame and the one-day football camps at Michigan and Pittsburgh. When he is not camping for football, he will be playing AAU basketball for the Cleveland Basketball Club.
