Philly lineman adds to impressive list

Cornerback Justin King and lineman Callahan Bright have stood out as the most recruited players in PA for the Class of 2005. But, those two superstars are being quickly joined by giant Philadelphia lineman Marques Slocum of St. John Neumann HS.

Marques Slocum the 6'6" 335 pound giant had already been offered by Maryland, Boston College, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Michigan State, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. But the list just got even more impressive in the last few days.

"I just got offered by LSU and Michigan," said Slocum, who says Michigan, along with Florida State were his childhood favorites. "I feel pretty good about it."

Slocum said that the in state schools, Pittsburgh and Penn State, has just recently become interested.

"Both just requested my tape," said Slocum. "Penn State just sent me a few more letters and Pittsburgh just sent me a letter to ask for a tape."

When asked if he was interested in either school, Slocum said, "yes, definitely."

Slocum says that he is going to Virginia Tech on April 17th to officially get his written offer, and then he is going over to the Nike Combine at Virginia to watch.

Slocum then will go to Penn State's Junior Day a day before the Nike Combine on the campus the next day.

Future camp visits, as of now, will be Maryland, Michigan State, Michigan, and maybe USC.

Slocum has enough agility and quickness to play defense, and would prefer to play that in college.

"Syracuse and Maryland wants me to play defense," said Slocum. "Michigan wants me for offense. LSU, Michigan State, and Boston College said I could play either way."
