Post-season accolades are a nice thing, but they are not always easy to come by. Especially when the player in your conference who plays your position is an All-State player, and made every all-star team in Pennsylvania, such as West Allegheny K/P Dave Brytus who will be kicking for Purdue this fall. That was the situation K/P Anthony Piccirilli 6-0, 220 Hopewell High School, Hopewell PA found himself in last season.
was an honorable mention selection Parkway Conference All-Star after averaging 44.8 yards per punt. He kicked off and had 12 touchbacks and was 3 out of 4 on his field goal attempts with a long of 34 yards. On extra point tries he was 19 of 21 and had 2 blocked; he's kicked from as far as 63 yards in practice and is consistent from 50 yards and in. Penn State
, West Virginia
, and Kentucky
have all shown an interest in Anthony.
"I've always been a pretty big Penn State fan, so I'd say right now they would be my favorite."
Besides Penn State Anthony favors Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech.
Piccirilli is a National Honor Society student with a 3.66/4.00 average. He has scored 1220 on his SATS and a 28 on his ACT. Anthony was good enough that he had an offer last year to attend a school, it was accidental but it happened nonetheless.
"NC State called me and told me they wanted me as a preferred walk-on, I told them I was only a junior. It was funny but it was nice that they thought that highly of me."
Anthony will attend the MSL Combine at Cincinnati, A-K Recruiting camp, and Metro-Index. This summer Piccirilli will be attending several camps including Penn State, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Syracuse, West Virginia, and possibly some camps in the Big Ten Conference.
