Big Time Recruit Looks at Panthers

Two recruiting classes ago Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely placed at least six players to major Division 1A players, including Pittsburgh Panther linebacker Clint Sessions. This year another Ely high school prospect will be highly recruited and the good news for the blue and gold is that he's strongly considering the Panthers.

Ronnie Wilson, a 6-foot-4 and 341 offensive linemen will be heavily recruited across the country. Right now he's got a top five of Florida, Notre Dame, Miami, North Carolina State and Pittsburgh.

"I will definitely visit Pittsburgh, Wilson said. " My best friend Clint Sessions plays for them and tells me how good of a program they have. I can't really say what I like about them yet because I haven't visited there."

Florida and Miami will also make a strong run at the South Florida standout. However, Miami, who signed four of his former high teammates, has a slight disadvantage.

"Miami has a great program but they have a lot of depth," Wilson said. "I have no problems with competition but they have too many players at offensive lineman. I want to play in my freshman year. I like Florida because of their academics. I want to major in Physical Therapy. I want to help people."

What is the secret to his success?

"I work very hard," he said. "I can't stand standing on the sideline and I'll do want ever it takes to get on the field. I'm going to work harder than the guy standing next to me. I always give 110%."

Wilson will wait to take his official visits until after his season is order and he'll decide on signing day.

"I don't want to visit a school when they are still playing," he said. "I want a chance to get the know the coaches better and to talk with them more."

Wilson is an excellent student who is on tract to qualify academically. He has a 3.5 grade point average and a 960 score on the SAT test.

"I could've done better on the SAT but I didn't have much rest the night before and I didn't study," he said. "I plan on taking the test again so I can get a better score."
