Big-time NY WR Gaining National Attention

The phone is ringing off the hook for Shawn O'Connor, the head coach at Brooklyn (NY) Abraham Lincoln. His elite-wideout Nyan Boateng is receiving rave reviews and offers from everywhere.

"I couldn't imagine what coaches do when they have two more more," says O'Connor as another coach calls to speak about Boateng.

As for offers, O'Connor has to divide them up into conferences so he can remember who has offered and who has interest.

"In the Big East, West Virginia (Coach Rodriguez visits on Monday), Pittsburgh (Coach Harris visitsTues), Rutgers, Syracuse, and Boston College have offered. In the ACC, Maryland has offered and Virginia is not really official in writing. In the Big Ten, Penn State and Michigan State. In the SEC Mississippi State has offered and their new coach is coming in soon. Yesterday, USC called and they are probably going to offer him."

With the interest the 6-foot-2, 190 pounder, Coach O'Connor is thankful for the attention on his program.

"It's great for the kid and great for the program," he admits. "With the pressure, however, we hope to get a decision before the season starts."

As for a leader, Boateng is very open to every team based on his lack of traveling at the moment.

"He only took one visit, so the next two weeks should be interesting. After taking his SATs in June, maybe start to narrow it down to five schools."
