PA Athlete likes local schools

The Suburban-1 league is arguably the toughest in the state. So how does one of it's 1st team All-Stars manage to avoid the radar of most schools? Good question, one that S Ryan Hamilton (6-3, 200, 4.59) of Council Rock North HS in Newtown is trying to solve.

Ryan Hamilton has been hearing from Northwestern, Penn State, Virginia, and NC State. He favors Penn State.

"I go to Penn State games. I've always been a fan of theirs. I love the environment and the fans of Big Ten football," said Hamilton.

Ryan also likes Pittsburgh, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio State, Northwestern, and Michigan. He is taking an unofficial visit to Penn State very soon. He is also planning on attending the Nike Combine at Penn State on May 15th. This summer he will camp at Penn State and Virginia. Others may be planned in the near future.

Ryan made 85 tackles and 3 interceptions on his way to being named to the 1st Team Suburban-1 All-League Team. He is a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and especially their safeties.

"I watch Brian Dawkins and Michael Lewis a lot. I like the way they play the game."

What are your best attributes on the field?

"My technique, and I love to hit. I love the contact in football."

What are your goals entering the 2004 season?

"I am working very hard in the off-season. I want too make a name for myself."

What are the main things that you are looking for in a college?

"I like the bigger school atmosphere. Academics are very important to me. How well I fit into the program and with the team."

Ryan is the starting power forward on the Indians basketball team, where he is the team's leading rebounder. He has a 3.3 GPA and has already scored 1090 on his SATs. In the weight room, Hamilton bench presses 245 lbs. and squats 365 lbs.
