NJ RB adds two more offers

Already holding an offer from Rutgers, RB Davon Smart 5-11, 190, 4.50 Hackensack HS, Hackensack NJ has since added two more Big East offers from Connecticut and Pittsburgh. Davon pronounced (Day-Von) is using this spring as a chance to showcase his skills. He recently attended the Elite Combine at the Meadowlands, On May 15th he will take part in the Nike Combine at Penn State, and in June he may attend the MSL/Insiders Combine at Rutgers.

Davon rushed for 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2003. He was named 1st Team All- County (Bergen) and 1st team All- NNJIL. Hackensack employs a balanced offense, which features Smart, and another Division-1A prospect WR Danny Oquendo who also hold an offer from Pittsburgh.

"I ran for 1,200 yards, but I can catch also. We run a lot of plays where I catch the ball out of the backfield." Said Smart

Besides the three schools that have offered Davon, he is getting interest from others including: Virginia, Michigan, Iowa, Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State, and Syracuse. Virginia came to his school to see him, and Michigan has been in twice. His early favorites are Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Syracuse.

Smart also excels as a sprinter on the Hackensack Track and Field team. He runs the 100 and 200 meters; his best times have been 10.9 and 22.9 respectively. This weekend he will take part in a league meet, and next weekend in the Bergen County meet.

How would you describe your running style?

"I am a balanced runner, I run a lot off tackle but I can cutback also."

When it comes don to making your decision, what will be the deciding factors for you?

"It's 4-5 years of my life I need to know that I am going to get along with everyone. The environment that I am in, I like the city. I want to see how the teams run their offense; do they run more than pass? Or are they balanced."
