Don Bosco Prep star wants a rematch

CB Michael Ray Garvin 5-8, 178, 4.4 Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey NJ and his father Johnny Ray are issuing a challenge to another high profile recruit WR Nyan Boateng Lincoln HS, NY. Boateng said in an article on another site that he beat Garvin multiple times during 1 on 1 drills at the Elite Combine at the Meadowlands recently. The Garvin's tell a whole different story.

"He caught one ball against me." Said Michael

"You get Nyan to go to the MSL/Insiders Combine and we'll have ourselves a rematch. I'm calling the coaches tomorrow and setting up a scrimmage between Bosco and Lincoln. We'll put the shoulder pads, and helmets on and see what's up," Laughed the elder Garvin

Michael elaborated about the 1 on 1 drills, "the QB had like 5-6 seconds to throw the ball, in a game he wouldn't have that kind of time, so the WR can put all kind of extra moves on you."

Garvin also covered WR Derrick Williams from Eleanor Roosevelt HS, MD widely considered the best in the country at his position.

"I covered him like 9 times and he caught a few, but I think I did well against him."

Michael ran a 4.30 and a 4.22 at the combine and was the fastest player there; he also earned secondary MVP honors. Michael's father estimates that Michael got around 8 more offers at the Elite Combine.

"He got offered by Oklahoma, Georgia, and North Carolina. He's got around 30 written offers and 5 verbal offers." Said Johnny Ray

Some of Garvin's offers include: Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, Nebraska, Colorado, Notre Dame, Maryland, Boston College, Oklahoma, Georgia, North Carolina, Syracuse, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, Georgia tech, NC State, West Virginia, and Penn State.

He has visited 3 schools Maryland, Rutgers and Penn State, and has plans on visiting most of the schools, which have offered him as soon as track season ends around the first week of June. Michael has run a 10.3 100 meters and a 21.6 200 meters. What was your impression of the 3 schools you visited?

Penn State- " It was alright not what I expected though, I was impressed with how many fans turned out for the spring game, but that's about it?

Rutgers- "They're from my home state, so I'm going to give them a look, they have some good things going on there."

Maryland- "They have a good team and a real nice campus, I liked it there a lot."

Michael ran for 615 yards and 6 touchdowns on only 32 carries last season. He will be a shut down corner in college; defensively he had 45 tackles, 4 interceptions and 2 touchdowns. Garvin came on the seen when he attended the US Army All-American junior combine last summer, and earned the defensive MVP award. In order to make some west coast visits Michael will be attending the Nike Combine in Palo Alto, CA and may attend the MSL/Insiders Combine if his schedule permits and WR Nyan Boateng is in attendance, according to Johnny Ray.

Michael Ray Garvin has a long list of teams he is debating on the top 8 for right now appear to be Rutgers, Oklahoma, Georgia, Nebraska, Colorado, Notre Dame, Maryland, and Boston College. Although, schools like Virginia, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh are not out of the running just yet.

"I like Walt Harris, and coach Carmichael is very consistent with his efforts to land Michael. Pittsburgh will definitely be a place we'll go and check out." Said Johnny Ray.
