PA bruiser picks up 3 more offers

Duquesne (PA) RB Shane Brooks (6-0, 218, 4.49) had offers from Pittsburgh, Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, Connecticut, Syracuse, Missouri, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Akron. Three more MAC schools have offered: Bowling Green, Toledo, and Miami of Ohio. Shane also feels two more offers are close to becoming a reality.

"Minnesota and Tennessee were both at the school watching film last week and both said they were very interested and would likely offer," said Brooks.

Brooks gained 1600 yards, averaged 9.1 yards per attempt, and scored 20 total touchdowns in 2003. At defensive tackle, he registered 10 sacks. He was named to the 2nd Team AP Class A All-State Team as a specialist, 1st Team All-Eastern Conference, Eastern Conference offensive MVP, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fabulous 22 South, Tribune-Review Terrific 25, and the McKeesport Daily News All-District 1st Team in 2003. Shane accomplished all of that while not even being the starter at Duquesne until the 4th game of the season. The Dukes finished the season with a record of 8-3.

Shane has taken unofficial trips to Pittsburgh, Maryland, Indiana, Notre Dame, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Virginia and Maryland hold a slight lead, but everyone is still alive in the Shane Brooks sweepstakes.

"I'm going to narrow it down here in the next week or so. It's just getting crazy."

As for his hometown Panthers, what are their chances?

"If they get 4-5 good lineman, I'd definitely be interested."
