One of many weapons at Penn Hills

If you haven't heard of RB Ed Collington (6-0, 205, 4.45), Penn Hills High School, you will soon if he has his way. Collington hasn't received any offers yet despite a solid showing at the Nike Combine at Penn State, where he ran a 4.5 forty, did 18 reps on the bench and vertical jumped 39". It's easy to get overshadowed at Penn Hills. Last season, they had Penn State recruits QB Anthony Morelli and WR Joe Prokopik, along with WR David Harvey and RB Kenny Lewis.

In 2003, Ed Collington rushed for 959 yards on 106 carries and 11 touchdowns despite missing 3 games due to a separated shoulder. He earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. Ed has only made one unofficial visit and that was to Pittsburgh. He has been hearing from Connecticut, Ohio, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Indiana, West Virginia, Penn State, and Pittsburgh. Favorites as of right now are Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh.

Collington and Lewis form a 1-2 punch that consists of two pure running backs, not your typical RB/FB combination. They both perform running back and fullback duties. Collington will also play defense this year, for the first time.

"They are putting me at strong safety of defense," said Collington.

Don't look for an early decision from Collington.

"I want to take my visits and see where I am comfortable at."

What is your primary goal for the 2004 season?

"I want to rush for 2,000 yards"

What would you consider as your strengths?

"Everything, I am an all-around back. I block, I run, and I can catch."

Is there anything you feel that needs improvement?

"I'm fast, but I want to be faster."

What are you doing to get ready for the season?

"I'm lifting and running with the team. And this summer, I'll do my own thing with some of my teammates."

Collington has yet to take his SATs. He has a 2.5 GPA.
