Walt Harris Football Camp Notes Sunday/Monday

Sheldon Harriott the elder brother of former Panther DE Claude Harriott traveled to Pittsburgh on Sunday with 12 players from his Belle Glade Central team. Belle Glade has several promising prospects the best of the lot may be DE Rashaad Duncan (6-1.5, 258, 5.0) very solid build, quick feet. Appears to be a tweener he plays on the OL for Belle Glade. Duncan has an offer from Florida Atlantic and has been getting interest from Iowa, Illinois, and Pittsburgh.

Wayne Lance at this time last year brought his Lynchburg Christian Academy football team to Pittsburgh, which included Panther commitments RB Rashad Jennings and FB Tyler Tipton. Coach Lance returned to Pittsburgh, but not with Lynchburg. He very recently accepted a coaching/teaching job at Kokomo High School in Indiana. Coach Lance is happy for the opportunity to coach 5-A football.

"I just applied on the Internet, and had an interview and got the job. It's a good experience for me to move up and coach at a higher level," said lance

During the morning session Ernest Williams (6-2, 230, 4.6) stopped by UPMC to showcase his talents and he didn't disappoint. Williams ran a 4.6 forty and had a 34" vertical. Williams has 5 offers but the hometown team may be the front-runners. Much has been made about Ernest liking West Virginia where his sister attends, but that is not the case.

"She's done with school there, I'm considering them but Pitt is real nice and they show me that they want me here."

Another impressive player was CB Dominic Jones (5-9, 185, 4.3) Brookhaven High School in Ohio. Jones is lightning quick, great closing speed, many in Ohio say he is one of the most vicious players in the state, with a reputation for delivering knock-out blows despite his size. Jones was one of the leaders in the state of Ohio in interceptions in 2003. He squats over 450 lbs, and has tremendous lower body strength. Jones also played wingback at Brookhaven. Jones been a very dangerous kick returner as well.

The evening session was the annual Razzle-Dazzle Football tournament. Not your ordinary football rules apply here. The teams are split up and they play on about 40 yards of turf. It is basically a free- for- all, forward passes can be thrown, well any types of passes from anywhere on the field. It's basically Australian Rules football without the kicking. The kids love it and it's a great way to break up the monotony. Not to mention it wears the kids out before bedtime.

I did get a call on my cell phone while at camp and Craig Bokor scored 830 on his SATS and will be eligible to play this fall.

I called Windell Brown and Darrelle Revis they haven't gotten their scores back as of 9:00pm last night.
