Another camp offer

Offers have been flying around at the UPMC Practice Facility. The annual Walt Harris Football Camps are in full swing and several prospects have been coming and going over the past week. This gives the Panther coaching staff a chance to get an up close and personal look at some kids who they may have not gotten a good feel for on film.

Such is the case with Defensive Back Brandon "Headache" Jackson (6-0, 185, 4.49) from Plantation High School in Florida. Brandon took a 3-hour flight to Pittsburgh for a chance to impress the coaching staff enough to be offered a scholarship to Pittsburgh. Brandon got his wish; he was in camp on the 20th-23rd and showed enough that Head Coach Walt Harris offered him a full scholarship.

"Coach Harris said he really liked the way I worked, he said he watched the film after every session and he liked what he saw. They like me at CB, but he said if that doesn't work out they want to see me as a WR" said Jackson

Several other Plantation players have offers as well including WR Cedric McGee, DT Jeffrey Owens, and DB Dennis Campbell. Two former players were in town this week also QB Darrell Strong and DE Nick Williams both will be suiting up for the Panthers this fall.

How did Brandon like his first trip to Pittsburgh?

"I liked the coaching that I got, the facility was beautiful, and the city was perfect."

Was there anything that you didn't like?

"No, it was all good."

After discussing the trip, Brandon told me that was his first trip on a plane so that was probably the worst part of the trip. Brandon was an Honorable-mention All-County selection last fall he made 62 tackles, 4 interceptions, forced 4 fumbles, and recovered 4 fumbles. Prior to the trip to Pittsburgh "Headache" attended a camp at NC State, and may attend camp at Florida State.

Brandon plans on taking his five official visits before making a decision; will Pittsburgh be a possible destination?

"I definitely would not mind going back up there."
