Pitt coaches in the House

Levance Fields is a highly sought after guard for several reasons. He has the ability to dart past defenders and finish his drives against big bodies inside the paint. Fields also has the perimeter skills to nail down three-pointers. These reasons are why many high major programs -- including the University of Pittsburgh -- are scouting him hard this summer.<p>

The Pittsburgh staff was on hand last night at Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York to watch Fields dazzle a very talented St. Raymond's team for 21 points -- many of which came off of spinning his defender to one side of the floor while taking the ball to the other side for driving baskets.

Fields, a 5-foot-11, 204-pound point guard from Brooklyn, New York, was able to lead his team to a hard-fought 46-41 victory over St. Raymond's. There are two halves -- 20 minutes worth -- but it is running time, limiting the offensive chances for each team. So Fields' 21 points was even more impressive.

Several programs besides Pittsburgh were on hand to watch Fields -- including Rutgers, St. John's, Hofstra, and Rider. Fields has also stated he is interested in Boston College, Kentucky, South Florida and Miami. Boston College is the latest school to get involved in the recruiting process.

After Fields competes at the Peach Jam, he will travel with the Gauchos at the Super Showcase and the AAU Nationals, both in Orlando later in the month. This site will have coverage of both events and keep you posted on how Fields performs.
