Can Petitti help with recruiting?

Rob Petitti is arguably the best lineman in the Big East Conference and one of the best offensive tackles in the country. Besides helping Pittsburgh win games on the field, Rob may be able to help them with recruiting as well. One high school lineman in particular is very interested in what Mr. Pettiti has to say about the Panthers.

Petitti played his prep ball for Head Coach Shane Fallon at Fairhaven Regional High School in Rumson, NJ. Fallon now has another D-1A prospect that is very interested in Pittsburgh.

Offensive lineman Alex LaMagdalaine (6-4, 290, 5.2) has one offer from Connecticut, but is hopeful that more may be coming soon.

"I went to camps at Boston College and Penn State, they both told me the same thing. Once all the camp sessions were over they'd evaluate everyone and they would let me know," said LaMagdalaine

So how would you rate your two camp trips?

Penn State - "I loved Penn State, it was the classiest place I've been to so far. I liked the campus and the coaching staff."

Boston College - "I loved BC also, it's a great environment and the coaches were great."

Several other teams are showing interest in Alex including Purdue, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia Tech.

Pittsburgh has an in with Alex, former Fairhaven product Rob Petitti.

"Coach Fallon is going to help me get in touch with Rob so I can talk with him and get a feel for what he thinks of Pittsburgh. There's nothing like being able to talk to a current player who is from your hometown."

Is Alex worried that Pittsburgh hasn't offered him yet?

"Coach Carmichael told me from day one not to be concerned if they didn't offer right away. He said they have a limited amount of scholarships this year. He said they had to evaluate everyone and figure out what they were going to do."

The LaMagdalaine family has put some miles on the family vehicle this spring and summer taking unofficial trips to Virginia, Connecticut, Boston College, Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, and Virginia Tech.

As a junior Alex was named 1st Team All-Division (Liberty), 1st Team All-County (Monmouth), and 1st team All-Shore. He carries a 2.7 GPA and has scored 1100 on the SAT test.

Favorites are Connecticut, Boston College, Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, and Illinois.

Pittsburgh isn't currently listed as a favorite, does that mean there's no interest?

"I just don't know much about them yet, once I talk to Rob then it may change."
