Big man to visit the Panthers

With six verbal commitments already, and none from South Florida, Panther fans have been wondering whom Pittsburgh may get from the Sunshine State. Pittsburgh has continually gotten its share of recruits from South Florida. It look's like they are assured of at least getting a visit from one of the best linemen in the state come October.

Offensive lineman Ronnie Wilson (6-4, 335, 5.4) Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, FL will be in town on October 16th for the Pittsburgh/Boston College game.

"I'm visiting Pittsburgh October 16th, on September 18th I'm visiting NC State when they play Ohio State, and on November 20th I'm visiting Ohio State when they play Michigan" said Wilson.

Pittsburgh may hold the wild card in the race for Ronnie, one of his best friends just so happens to start on the Panthers defense.

"I'm best friends with Clint Session. He has told me how great it is up there, so I want to come check it out for myself."

Wilson carries a 3.5 GPA, and has scored 960 on the SAT. He is planning on graduating in December and enrolling in college in January.

Ronnie currently has received 18 scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, NC State, Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Georgia tech, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Central Florida, Notre Dame, UCLA, USC, and Miami. After sorting through all those offers Wilson has centered his focus on five schools - Florida, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, NC State, and LSU.

This summer the 2nd Team All-State and 1st team All-County selection has camped at Florida, Ohio State, NC State, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech.

The big man has certain criteria that the school must meet in order to land him. "I want to major in Sports Medicine, I want to be comfortable in my surroundings. It's not like your entire life is spent on the football field. The people around me will play a part, I want too be comfortable with the people I'm with.

How about early playing time, will that factor in your decision? Do you look at the team's depth charts?

"I don't look at that stuff, I figure I'm gonna go to a school and do my best. If I'm the better man then I'll beat out the competition."

The Panther Report will have an interview with Ronnie after his visit to Pittsburgh.
