A muscular 6-8, 215 pound power forward Ryan Reid from Boyd Anderson H.S. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Reid excels at rebounding in traffic and finishing in the paint area. Even though he's not a great leaper, Reid throws his weight around in the low post at both ends of the floor and gives an honest effort every time out.
After scoring 14 points to help the Tallahassee Wildcats thwart a late comeback by the Austin Dawgs, Reid told us that he has been offered scholarships by Penn State, Florida State, Miami, Texas, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Arkansas and Florida.
Many colleges have hopped on the Reid bandwagon since watching him back in early July at the adidas Superstars Camp in Atlanta. Following the Superstars camp, he's traveled with the Wildcats to the adidas Super 64 and Best of the Summer Tournament.
"People have always been involved, but I had to step my game up and show the coaches what I've got," Reid said. "Right now, I am just thinking about my books, but I will definitely take all five of my visits."
Reid averaged 18.5 points, 12.3 rebounds and five blocks per game last season as a junior at Boyd Anderson. He said he has a 2.2 GPA and took the SAT for the first time in June.
That means he will be able to start taking those visits in late August or September if he so elects.
"I plan on making a late fall decision," Reid added. "No one has made a big impression on me yet, they've just been offering me and telling me about their schools."
