Quip has his eye on Pitt

Last fall, the Aliquippa Quips won a PIAA Class AA state championship. The Quips were led by standout Darrelle Revis, who will be showcasing his talents at the University of Pittsburgh this fall. The cupboard isn't bare for coach Mike Zmijanic as the Quips return a wealth of talent.

His name is not on most D-1 radars, but that will change this fall. Safety/wide receiver Tommie Campbell 6-3, 192, 4.43 Aliquippa high school (Pa) is one of the most athletically gifted players I've seen this year. Campbell was often overshadowed on a senior-dominated Class AA state championship Aliquippa team. This year, Campbell will be playing WR for the Quips, the only D-1 team that has seen him perform, as a WR is Pittsburgh.

"With Darrelle Revis gone this year. I'll get my chance to show what I can do," said Campbell.

Campbell combines size, speed, and athleticism to out duel most would-be defenders for the ball. Tommie is currently being recruited as a safety. Schools that have been showing the most interest include Pittsburgh, Central Michigan, Connecticut, Syracuse, Indiana, and Buffalo.

"Pittsburgh is my favorite, but if they don't offer I have to keep my options open."

Tommie is a stand out track performer for Aliquippa. He ran a leg on the Quips 4x100 meter relay team that finished 3rd in the PIAA Class AA track and field championships. He also competes in the 100, 200, 110 hurdles, and 300 hurdles. Campbell also contributed valuable minutes to the Aliquippa basketball team that advanced to the state playoffs.

Campbell camped at Pittsburgh this summer. He also attended the A-K recruiting showcase. Early favorites include Pittsburgh, Michigan, Michigan State, Kansas, and Indiana.
