Too cold for me

Four big issues stand between Florida prospects and Northern schools: Florida, Florida State, Miami, and cold weather. The fourth is a big deterring factor for one of the premier Florida defensive backs, who has offers from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Boston College, and Rutgers.

"Two of my teammates are real interested in some of those schools, but I think it's a little too cold for me. They keep talking about so who knows. I haven't set any visit dates for sure yet."

4-star safety prospect Dorian Munroe (6-1, 185, 4.5) of Coral Reef high school in Miami, FL estimates he has between 22-25 scholarship offers. The ones he can remember include West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Boston College, South Florida, Rutgers, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Kansas State, Notre Dame, NC State, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Ole Miss, Duke, Kansas, Alabama, Maryland, LSU, UCF, and North Carolina.

Out of all those offers, Munroe knows two schools that will be getting official visits.

"I haven't set the dates, but I think I'll go to Georgia and NC State for sure," said Munroe.

"I know a bunch of guys from Killian who are at NC State, and Georgia is pretty this at DB."

Who were the first and the last to offer you so far?

"Pittsburgh was my first offer, and Florida State, Florida, WVU, BC, I believe were the most recent."

Last fall as a junior, Dorian earned 1st team All-Dade County honors and he was selected as a 3rd team (6A) all-state selection. Munroe plays wingback/wide receiver for the Barracudas on offense. Last fall, he ran for 506 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 320 yards. As a safety, he made 75 tackles and picked off 8 passes.

This summer, Munroe attended camps at Florida State, Miami, Florida, Rutgers, and the Rutgers camp at Palmetto High School in Miami.

Dorian is focused on seven teams right now.

"I like Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, NC State, LSU, and Notre Dame right now."

Munroe was named the top defensive back at the Miami camp.
