Panthers fishing for Barracudas

We knew Pittsburgh had offered S Dorian Monroe a while back. Yesterday we learned that the Panthers offered LB Eric Houston. Now the Panthers have offered another LB from Coral Reef.

Coral Reef (Fl) high school linebacker/defensive end Avery Vogt (6-2, 225, 4.67) received two offers recently from Pittsburgh and Kansas State, bringing his total to nine. Vogt also has offers from West Virginia, Auburn, Northwestern, Duke, Rutgers, South Florida, and Boston College.

"Most schools are recruiting me as a LB, Pittsburgh likes me at DE. I'm not too wild about end. I played there last year but I prefer LB," said Vogt

As a junior Avery recorded 65 tackles and 9 sacks for the Barracudas. This summer Avery has camped at Florida, Florida State, Rutgers, and Miami. At the Miami camp Vogt was selected as the defensive MVP.

"They gave me a nice plaque, it was cool because Dorian was named the top DB, and Eric was named the best LB at the camp."

Vogt is the starting center for the Coral Reef basketball team. He has a 2.9 GPA and has scored 940 on the SAT.

Two schools that may get official visits are?

"Me and my teammate Eric Houston have discussed playing together in college so we will likely both visit West Virginia and Pittsburgh. West Virginia is one of my favorites and Pittsburgh is his."

Besides West Virginia Vogt's list of favorites includes Kansas State, Auburn, Miami, South Florida, Pittsburgh, and Georgia.
