Big Man Delays Trip

The Pitt Panthers basketball program will have to be a little more patient regarding John Garcia's unofficial visit. Though initially scheduled for tomorrow, Garcia has decided to delay the trip and for two very good reasons.

John Garcia, a 6-foot-9 center from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, New York, told the Insiders Report: "My parents couldn't make it," Garcia said. "And they want to be there when I take these visits."

Garcia, who also lists St. John's, Connecticut, Villanova, and Seton Hall among his favorites, said his visit could be rescheduled to next Thursday if his parents are able to go.

"I am still interested in taking the visit," said Garcia, who will land in the Insiders Report top 50 players in our national list to be released next week. "It could happen next Thursday or it may not depending upon whether we can all visit."

Garcia, who was named the Reebok senior All Star game in early July, played this past summer with the Long Island Lightning and Chris Phillips' New York Elite AAU program. He plays efficiently with his back to the basket and is a terrific shot-blocker.

John has offers from each of the five schools left on his list -- Connecticut, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova, and Pittsburgh. "I don't have a leader," he said.
