Green, a versatile guard/forward from St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York (Long Island), can perform several functions on the court. At 6-foot-5, he is big enough to overpower smaller guards. But he is also quick enough and possesses solid skills with his handle to drive past bigger bodies.
Green, who was named the co-MVP at the Reebok ABCD camp in early July, has already landed offers from Pittsburgh, St. John's, Connecticut, and North Carolina. He had several other high major programs interested in his skills but has recently shaved his list down.
"I have three visits set up," said Green, who begins school again tomorrow. "I am visiting Pittsburgh the weekend after this one and I am also visiting North Carolina for Midnight Madness (October 15th). I am also going to take a visit at the end of October to Connecticut (October 29th).
It's known that Garcia and Green have spoken about attending the same school which is why the 18th of September weekend is huge for the Panthers' basketball program. Green and Garcia are friends. "If Danny went there that would help Pittsburgh with me," Garcia has said previously.
Garcia, 6-foot-9, is a center/power forward from Brentwood High School on Long Island, New York. Garcia also made the Reebok ABCD All Star game, propelling him on the national scene. Garcia is a very productive player who does the bulk of his work below the trip. However, he is a tremendous shot-blocking big man and is a blue-collar type of player that won't attract higher rankings from most services. But John is as productive a big man there is in the 2005 class.
Garcia will play at a Big East school when he decides. He is currently interested in Pittsburgh, St. John's, Seton Hall, Connecticut, and Villanova. His trip to Connecticut helped Jim Calhoun's program with Garcia. However, Andrew Bynum, a 7-footer from New Jersey, is considered also a top priority for the Connecticut program.
John has stated he plans on visiting Villanova this weekend unofficially. He will also visit St. John's the weekend after his Pittsburgh trip on the 18th of September. Garcia also could take a trip to Seton Hall the weekend of September 30th. Connecticut is trying to land Garcia for a visit the last weekend of October -- the same weekend that Green is planning on taking a visit to Storrs.
Panther Report will keep you posted on how the visits work out or with any changing developments.
Entering exciting period
