Hotly Pursued

Paul Harris, a talented 6-foot-5 junior from upstate New York, is being hotly pursued by several high major programs.

Paul Harris, who is a junior and plays at Niagara Falls High School in upstate New York, led the Empire State team to a 101-95 victory over the New York City team at an All Star game held Sunday afternoon at John Jay College in New York City. Harris scored 19 of his 23 points in the second half. Harris is a fierce competitor and also can move the ball up in transition with his ballhandling and passing.

The New York City team held a 62-59 advantage when Harris made his appearance in the third quarter with four minutes remaining in regulation play. Harris then scored 19 points over the next 12 minutes.

"They had their first string team in against our second string and they took advantage of it and led," Harris said. "But our first team then played against their second string and we took advantage and got the lead. It was a good game."

Harris said he is wide open in his recruiting process. However, he has several schools interested in his skills. "I like a lot Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Ohio State," Harris said. "They seem to be recruiting me the hardest. I am open."

Harris stated he also has interest in North Carolina and Connecticut, though sources indicate that the defending National Champs are scouting other players at Harris' position and may not be seriously involved.
