Blue Chip DT to visit Pittsburgh

With the additions of Craig Bokor, Derrell Jones, Marlon Terry, and Rashaad Duncan the Panthers will be formidable on the defensive front for the foreseeable future. The Panthers haven't let up on the recruiting trail, thanks to a BCS bid the Panthers will receive an official visit from arguably the top DT in the state of Florida.

It appears as though the first trip to a BCS bowl for the University of Pittsburgh could pay off in more ways then one. Sunday evening Pittsburgh linebacker H.B. Blades was asked by /KDKA-2 /if the BCS Bowl will help their recruiting efforts? Blades told them "Well the #1 DT in Florida is coming here to visit so it must be." /Scout.com/ just confirmed with Plantation (Fla.) four-star defensive tackle Jeffrey Owens (6-2, 275, 4.90) that he will indeed visit Pittsburgh, and not alone either.

"I am visiting Pittsburgh (1/7), along with teammates Dennis Campbell, Cedric McGee, and Brandon Jackson," said Owens.

"I think Campbell may have committed to Rutgers so I can't say I'm 100%sure on that."

Why the sudden change in interest levels?

"I always liked Pittsburgh, but they are playing for a BCS bowl now," said Owens "From what the other Plantation guys tell me, they have the talent to compete for the big prize next season a National Championship."

The other Plantation guys Owens is referring to are H.B. Blades, Darrell Strong, and Nick Williams.

Owens will host Pittsburgh for an in home visit next week. Owens finished his senior season with 90 tackles, and 17 sacks.

Scout.com spoke to Brandon Jackson and Pittsburgh has told him they are not taking any more defensive backs for the time being. Jackson will not visit Pittsburgh.
