Pitt crushes 10th ranked Syracuse

Pitt came into last nights game ranked #25 in the USA Today, and not ranked in the AP poll, but they put a dominating performance together against the 10th ranked Syracuse Orangemen. The Panther had a 43-18 rebounding edge, which is a pretty amazing performance against a team the caliber of Syracuse. The 72-57 win over Syracuse improves the Panthers record to 17-3, with all 3 losses being close games that came down to the last minute. Julius Page led the Panthers with 21 points, including 4 of 8 from 3-point land. Jaron Brown had 10 rebounds and was seen diving after every loose ball, and Toree Morris had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 dunks to take care of things inside the paint. Brandin Knight has 12 points and 11 assists despite playing with a bad leg. Everyone wondered who would score for Pitt this year after losing Greer and Hawkins last year, but the answer is everyone!  Donatas Zavackas, Mark McCarroll, Ontario Lett and Chevon Troutman all had big baskets at important times during the game. Every pre-season Publication picked the Panthers at or near the bottom of the conference this year and that just goes to show what a great job Ben Howland and his staff is doing coaching this squad. Remember Pitt's last few recruiting classes???  None of Pitt's players were ranked anywhere near as high as the players that Syracuse, Georgetown, or St Johns recruited, but Pitt is just simply kicking their tails!!!
