Johnstown welcomes Wannstedt

Dave Wannstedt and David Walker visited Greater Johnstown high school Thursday morning to visit LaRod Stephens. Local media presence was heavy, with reporters hoping to get a word from the newly appointed leader of the Panthers.

Greater Johnstown (Pa.) running back LaRod Stephens, 5-8 and 172 pounds, is usually the star in the spotlight at Johnstown. On Thursday media members were trying to get a word with Dave Wannstedt, while Stephens waited patiently to meet the new coach. Wannstedt and RB coach David Walker came to town to speak with their prized verbal.

Scout.com managed to do something most opponents can't and that is catch up to the fleet-footed back. Stephens gave us the run down on his hour-long visit from the Panther coaches.

"We talked for a little bit and then we watched my senior highlight video," Stephens said. "They were telling me about the new offensive philosophy, and the emphasis on the running game."

"They really want to have a balanced offense."

Stephens is excited and ready to sign his binding letter of intent on Feb 2nd .

"They went over all the paperwork, so I'm ready to go," Stephens said.
