The roster for the Pennsylvania squad for the 2005 Big 33 Classic has been compiled. The game, which will pit the Keystone State high school stars against a team of prep standouts from Ohio, will be played July 23 at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pa.
There are several surprises, as some of the most highly touted prospects in the state were left off the Pennsylvania team, including Bill Stull, Shane Brooks, Callahan Bright, Eugene Jarvis and David Harvey.
Gateway All-American Justin King will not play in the game because he has already enrolled at the college of his choice, Penn State.
Pittsburgh Panthers have six prospects, PSU,
West Virginia and Notre Dame
all had three each. The list is as follows:
The number of D-I athletes not selected to the team (David Harvey, Bill Stull, Eugene Jarvis, John Brown, John Bachman, Callahan Bright, Shane Brooks, Kurt Mattes, Matt Lowry, Will Barker).
Division II power IUP has two players on the roster.
Jarvis. Though small in stature, the running back had a tremendous senior season for the Class AAAA champion Pittsburgh Central Catholic Vikings.
Stull (Seton La Salle) had a near record breaking senior season and was not selected.
Bright (Harriton) is one of the best defensive tackles in the nation was not chosen.
Tennessee has a policy which does not allow its recruits to play in postseason all-star games, thus eliminating linebacker Andre Mathis (Erie Prep) from consideration for this event.
