Back on the Ricker Scale

In an earlier interview with Scout.com's Allen Wallace it appeared as if Jeremy Ricker had made up his mind about leaving the "Keystone State".

"There's a great chance of me leaving Pennsylvania and moving further west with a program of my choice," he said.

Hold the phones, because that was prior to Jeremy Ricker receiving a visit from Pittsburgh head coach Dave Wannstedt. The new man in charge told the youngster that an offer was eminent, and now The Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt quarterback is very interested in what the Panthers have to offer.

"Coach [Dave] Wannstedt was in a week ago, he said they were offering me a scholarship," Ricker said. "He really made me feel wanted. He wants me to come down and meet the quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh. He was telling me about all the great quarterbacks that coach Cavanaugh has worked with it was quite an impressive list, he's worked with Steve Young."

Pittsburgh has made such a solid impression that Ricker now includes them amongst his favorites.

"My top five is still pretty solid, but I'd say Pitt is right there in the top five or six," Ricker said.

The (6-2, 205, 4.6) quarterback currently favors Oregon, Oklahoma, Maryland, USC, Cal, Virginia, and Pittsburgh.

Ricker is not afraid of competition, but he makes no bones about his college plans.

"I'd like to red shirt and have a year to learn the system; it would be great to get behind a quarterback like Tyler Palko, Chad Henne, or Rhett Bomar and learn from them.

Ricker now holds 20-22 written offers, he recently added written offers from Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska, Houston, Toledo, and Michigan State.

"NC State, Tennessee, and Syracuse told me they are putting offers in the mail," Ricker said

Final JR (10-3) stats: 107 for 184 with 1800 yards passing/17 TDs; 200+ yards rush/7 TDs; Bench: 345/Squat: 450/Power Clean: 255/Vert Jump: 31"
