Star Pa. RB Taking A Step Back

Pennsylvania running back Travis McBride (6-1, 195, 4.5) now claims he does not have a top five. Iowa, West Virginia, Rutgers, North Carolina State and Miami of Ohio have offered.

"I don't have a top five anymore because it's always changing. I just can't really begin to narrow it down, but I should have one sometime during the summer," said McBride, from McKeesport Area High School.

"Some schools that I've got interest in are Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Pittsburgh, UConn, Iowa (offer), Tennessee and Auburn.

"I'm looking for a good education, how early I can play at a program, the depth at running back, their success in recent years and the style of play a program has. I prefer a running style offense. I find these qualities so far at programs like Iowa, Ohio State, Tennessee and Auburn.

"No on is recruiting me harder than the other right now. That's about all even.

"I like Iowa because they're a good program and their recent success shows that. Some of their coaches have been to the school, but I haven't really had a chance to speak with them there or over the phone," he said.

"I'm in contact with coach (John) Peterson (rec coord/tight ends) from Ohio State. They seem really close to offering me at this point. Some of their coaches have been to the school twice and it seems like they've got a lot of interest in me right now.

"I'm in contact with the coaches at both Pitt and Penn State too, but I don't know if they're going to offer me.

"As far as summer goes, I'm still undecided on that. I still need to talk it over with my coach and my mom. I haven't really put any thought into who I'd like to go and see on an unofficial visit," he said.
