Honors Rolling In For Blades

Pittsburgh junior linebacker H.B. Blades was named to the pre-season Benarik Award 'Watch List' according to published reports by Collegefootballnews.com, a popular fan website.

Blades has also been named to the 'Watch List' for the 2005 Rotary Lombardi Award, given to the nation's top defensive player and the Street & Smith preseason All-American team.

Last season as a sophomore, the Plantation (Fla.) native led the Pittsburgh defense with a whopping 108 tackles, including 10.5 for loss. He also added three interceptions and a fumble recovery.

As a true freshmen in 2003, Blades recorded 57 total tackes, with 41 being solo, and one fumble recovery. He also was very valuable on the Panthers special teams units. His blocked punt against Syracuse earned him the coaching staff's Special Teams Player of the Game.
