Buckeyes making a play for Thomas

Pittsburgh is holding the fort, but the Buckeyes of Ohio State are in hot pursuit of one of its prized verbal pledges. Ohio State recently offered Joe Thomas, will he still be a Panther?

Lakewood (Ohio.) St. Edward has not skipped a beat along the offensive line this year, despite losing All-American Alex Boone. The reason is simple its Joe Thomas (6-4, 285, 5.2) is now playing left tackle for (4-0) St. Edward.

"I'm starting to like playing there a little more with each game," Thomas said.

Thomas committed to Pittsburgh back in July, but that hasn't stopped others from recruiting him.

"Ohio State offered me recently, they call about once a week to see what I'm thinking," he said. "I had a bye week so I went to check out the Ohio State-Iowa game. Pittsburgh was playing Youngstown State, so I figured Iowa and Ohio State would be a better game to see."

With his recent visit to Ohio State, rumors have begun popping up that Thomas may rescind his verbal pledge to the Panthers and become a Buckeye.

"My commitment is still solid," he said." Right now, I am 100% committed to Pittsburgh."

Thomas admits he has a little more interest in the Buckeyes, but his feelings are mixed.

"I have mixed feelings, I mean they showed some interest in me early," he said. "They said they really didn't have good game tape of me.

St. Edward will look to stay unbeaten this weekend when they play host to St. Francis of Buffalo, N.Y.
