Lady Panthers land top MD center

For years the Lady Panthers have wallowed in the depths of the Big East basement. Agnus Berenato came on board with a vision, and now she is reaping the benefits. Berenato landed a solid recruiting class last year and is well on her way again this year.

Last month, the Lady Panthers landed Ashleigh Braxton, a 5-foot-10 guard from Forest Park, Md., The second standout to join the Lady Panthers is also a Maryland native.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Selena Nwude, a 6-foot-5 center from Eleanor Roosevelt High in Greenbelt, Md., has now committed to Coach Berenato.

Nwude is currently ranked as the No. 14 player in the nation according to Full Court Press, which is part of Scout.com. She is rated as a four-star prospect.

This summer, Nwude earned Top Ten honors at the prestigious Adidas All-Star camp. She helped lead Eleanor Roosevelt to a state championship, by averaging 12 PPG and 12 RPG. Nwude missed a portion of here junior season due to an ankle injury she suffered playing Volleyball. She chose the panthers over numerous offers including big time programs such as Penn State and Notre Dame.

According to Full Court Press Nwude is A strong, powerful, left-handed post who doesn't back down from anyone. She's not going to be leading the break but if you're looking for a low-post presence, she can help.
