Collier a firm commitment

University of Pittsburgh Head Football Coach Dave Wannstedt is in the process of establishing a tough, physical run first offensive scheme. Standout running back recruit Kevin Collier (5-ft-185 pounds) from Churchville-Chilli High School in Churchville, NY is a critical component to his future plans. The talks with him about his commitment to Pitt.

"Let me say it right from the start. My commitment to Pitt is solid and I can't wait to be a Panther," stated Kevin Collier. "Syracuse wanted me to visit. They are my hometown team and it was their last chance to talk with me. I decided to visit them last week. Official visits are a lot of fun and I decided to simply go and enjoy myself. The visit was nice, but it didn't change my mind." ranks Collier a four-star recruit and the 18th best running back in the nation. Many scouts have compared him to the New York Giant's Tiki Barber. Kevin ran for 1,942 yards and scored 19 touchdowns this season. He became Section V's all-time rushing yards leader with 5,402 yards.

"I don't expect anything to be handed to me, but I'm ready to get to Pitt and work hard to get onto the field. I'm around 185 pounds right now. My goal is to eat and lift and gain some weight. I would like to add 10 to 15 pounds of muscle. There are several great running backs on the roster. I hope I can contribute in some capacity next year."

Collier is capable of running the forty-yard dash in 4.45 seconds. Kevin is known for his rare balance of speed, acceleration, vision and cutback ability. He's a highly intelligent young man that will have little difficulty qualifying academically.

"I look at the future and I get excited. Pitt is going to be special. A lot of my recruiting class has a tight bond already. You look at players like Dorin (Dickerson), Nate (Byham), Lowell (Robinson) and Joe (Thomas). We're ready to get to Pitt and put them on the map. We want to aim for West Virginia and Louisville every year and beat them. Our goal is to compete with the best programs in the nation."

"I can't wait to Pitt and get started. There area already some great players at Pitt and I think we can have great year. You have players like Tyler Palko, Derek Kinder and Darelle Revis on your team. It's hard to find a better group of leaders."

"My commitment is solid as a rock. The coaches at Pitt can look for my fax on letter of intent day."
