Elijah Fields to Pitt

Elijah Fields (6-ft-2 inches, 200 pounds) from Duquesne High School (Duquesne, PA) is considered one of the top players in Western Pennsylvania. He narrowed his final list to Pitt and Penn State. Elijah called Head Coach Dave Wannstedt today to say "Pitt is it".

Elijah Fields is a Scout.com "four-star" prospect and ranked the 10th best safety in the nation. He was named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fab 22" team, first-team Class A Associated Press All-State, MSASPORTS "Elite 11", Pittsburgh Tribune Review"Terrific 25", and first-team All-WPIAL. The Associated Press crowned Fields as its 2005 Class A Player of the Year.

Elijah was named the WPIAL Class A Player of the Year. He finished with 704 yards rushing on 59 carries and caught 42 passes for 1,167 yards.

He is capable of playing a number of positions, but most believe he will play wide receiver for the Panthers. "I felt most comfortable at Pitt. They have a great recruiting class coming in and I already know most of those guys well. We want to go to Pitt and win a National Championship."
