"Coach Wannstedt and Coach Dunn are great people. I have a lot of respect for them. They have been to my school to see me in the past. They have years of quality football experience and I feel comfortable with them."
Blankenship has been a three-year starter for Center High School. He led his team to an outstanding 10-2 record last season.
A few reports on the internet have indicated that Evan may be slightly leaning to the Buckeyes. When asked if the reports were valid, he stated, "No. I'm open at this point. I have family from Ohio and I some relatives near Columbus. I like Ohio State but I like Pitt as well. I'm still open. It's too early in the process."
Blankenship is capable of bench pressing 340 pounds, squatting 500 pounds and running a 5.4 forty-yard dash. He is a solid student with a 3.0 grade point average.
"I think I bring a lot to the football field. I'm big and strong and I use my power to overwhelm the guy in front of me. I have great feet. Much of that comes from playing basketball. I can move for my size."
"Saturday was great. I grew up rooting for Pitt and it was my first official junior day event. The experience was special and it certainly helped them."
