Pitt is the early leader for Rucker

Warren G. Harding High in Ohio seems to have a limitless amount of players who are receiving interest for the class of 2007. Chris Rucker is the latest name to emerge, and he recently had the opportunity to take a visit to his childhood favorite.

Chris Rucker, a 6-foot-1, 185 pound, wide receiver/defensive back, is yet another prospect from Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio., who is starting to pop-up on the recruiting radar of a number of programs.

"I am starting to learn a lot more about the recruiting process everyday," Rucker said. "I am hearing from Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Purdue, Syracuse, Akron, Kent State, and Indiana. They are all sending me letters and inviting me out to their camps."

Rucker has not yet figured out which position he should be concentrating on for his collegiate career.

"The schools are recruiting me for both sides of the ball. Some are talking about wide receiver, and some are talking about defensive back."

"I had five touchdown receptions last year, but I do not know how many yards. We played in a run based offense, so there was not a lot of opportunity to get many catches. On defense I had 6 interceptions," Rucker said of his performance as a junior.

Rucker took his first unofficial visit this past weekend when he made the hour drive to Pittsburgh, and he saw first hand what Dave Wannstedt and the Pittsburgh Panthers bring to the table.

"I really liked the junior day trip. It was a lot of fun. There where a ton of players that were in attendance. I got to check out the campus a little, and talk to the coaches."

"I really like Pitt. I have wanted to go there since I was a little kid. It is close to home. They have always been a favorite for me, because I have had some family that has gone there."

Rucker has a tentative camp schedule hammered out.

"I will be trying to definitely go to camps at Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Indiana. I will be going to the Scout.com combine at Pitt on March 4. I am excited to go to that and get my name out there and show everyone what I am capable of."

Rucker reports no offers at this time.
