Moye was named All-Conference and All-League as a junior. He rushed for 1,131 yards on 131 carries and scored 17 touchdowns. Derek caught 24 passes for 536 yards and nine touchdowns.
"I really enjoyed Pitt's junior day. It's a good program. I like them a lot. They are rebuilding right now and doing a great job with the recruiting class they just brought in," said Moye. "I would put Pitt, Penn State and Notre Dame as my top three schools. Pitt was the first one to offer me and that says a lot to me."
Moye recently attended the Scout.com All-American camp held at the UPMC Southside practice facilities in Pittsburgh, PA. He performed very well in the one-on-one drills and recorded a 31-inch vertical jump.
"I feel that my height, speed and athletic ability are my strengths at the wide receiver position. My size allows me to leap and separate myself from the defender."
Despite Derek's sizeable talent, he is very aware of one glaring weakness. "I know I need to get bigger. Right now I'm way too thin," he said. "Elijah Fields (Duquesne High School) is going to Pitt. We played the Duke last year at Heinz Field. He was really big and strong. I had a ton of problems with him. I knew then that I had to start trying to get bigger and stronger."
"I guess you could say I'm open right now but I do have some favorites. It's hard to say when I'll make a decision. Right now I'm leaning towards waiting until the season starts. Pitt is going to remain one of my top schools. I like them a lot."
