Speculation has run rampant as to whether he will remain at the helm of the Pitt basketball program. It appears the speculation has ended and Coach Dixon will remain at with Pitt.

Jamie Dixon will remain at the helm of the University of Pittsburgh's men's basketball program. According to sources close to the program, he has agreed to sign an extension with Pitt. Arizona State reportedly offered Dixon a five-year contract in the neighborhood of $900,000 per year. There were a number of reports that linked Dixon to the opening at Missouri as well. His new deal with the Panthers is said to be very comparable to the one offered by the Sun Devils.

Dixon has led the Panthers to a 76-22 record in three years. The Panthers have made three consecutive appearances to the NCAA Tournament. Pitt's athletic director Jeff Long started negotiations with him shortly after the Panthers disappointing loss to Bradley in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Terms on the deal are not yet know. The Panthers lose one senior, Carl Krauser, and expected to have one of the top teams in the Big East next season.
