Brown waits on Pitt

University of Pittsburgh Head Coach Dave Wannstedt hasn't been shy about his fondness for running the ball. He is perpetually searching for quality running backs. It appears that a running back from Florida is hoping the Panthers offer a scholarship.

"WVU was the first school to offer me a scholarship. I like Pittsburgh, Florida State, LSU and Miami (FL) as well," stated bruising running back Zacchaeus Brown (5-foot-11 inches, 200 pounds) from Royal Palm High School in Royal Palm Beach, FL.

"Pittsburgh is still my favorite school. I was on your web site ( and looked at the class they brought in last year. They are going to be young and talented. The team should be really good in a few years. I would like to be a part of a team like that."

Brown rushed for 650 yards on 83 carries as a junior. He has been a two-year starter at running back. Zacchaeus is capable of running a 4.5 forty-yard dash and squatting 400 pounds.

"I'm happy to have the offer from WVU but I want to wait to see what schools offer me. If the Panthers offer, I would probably commit. If they don't I'll wait to see the other offers that come my way. I have talked with my family and I'm going to try to go to the summer football camp at Pittsburgh. I hope to go there and show them my ability. I know they received my highlight film."

Brown is a powerful north-south runner with breakaway speed. He is capable of running a 4.5 forty-yard dash. Zach split the carries in his offensive backfield with teammate Brandon Pendergrass last season. He averaged 6 yards per carry and ran for a total of 463 yards. Brown scored 5 touchdowns.

"I ran into another running back, Bo Williams (6-foot-1 inches, 205 pounds) from Northeast High School, at a combine. He told me he had an offer from Pitt. I don't know what they see in him that they don't see in me. Hopefully I can prove to them that I'm worth the offer."
