"I thought Pitt ran a tight, no nonsense practice. I spent time watching their defense and I liked the fact they play man to man quite a bit. That fits my style and ability."
Williams is capable of running a 4.5 forty-yard dash. Despite his somewhat squat 5-foot-10 inch frame, he's thick and well-muscled. Jared is known as a physical cornerback. "Practice was intense and physical. I never shy away from contact and it was good to see the defense play physical and with so much energy," he said.
Jared lists Pitt, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Kansas and NC State amongst his favorites. He was quick to recognize the Panthers as his first and only offer. "I have some other schools I'm looking at, but Pitt made a huge impression on me with their offer. They believe in my ability and offered shortly after looking at me on film."
"The early offer is going factor into my decision. I really like Pitt and they are the team to beat at this point."
Williams is close with his teammate Cameron Holland (6-foot-3 inches, 285 pounds). Holland, like Williams, was highly impressive at the Scout.com All-American combine in Pittsburgh, PA. "Cameron and I would like to play together if we can," said Williams. "I hope he impresses the staff enough to get a scholarship over the summer." (Holland pictured)
The University of Pittsburgh coaching staff has clearly established Williams as a "Plan A" cornerback recruit. Three other cornerback prospects have been offered: Jordan Mabin from Nordonia, OH, Antonio Reddic from Aliquippa, PA and A.J. Guyton from Homestead, FL.
