Mike was a class AA All-State performer last season as a junior after rushing for close to 1,300 yards. Per Prepstar, Mike can bench press over 310 lb's and can run the 40 in 4.7 seconds. Mike has also been ranked the #17 recruit in the state of Virginia. Tommy Buzzo, Mike's coach at Liberty High School, commented that Mike just fell in love with the place when he visited. Mike is not just a blocking fullback, he has fantastic running skills to go along with his powerful blocking. Its no secret that Pitt coach Walt Harris loves to run more than one fullback in and out of the offense, plus he has been known to give the fullback the ball as many as 7 straight times to hammer a defense late in the game. Plus, a fullback at Pitt doesn't just block. He carries the ball and catches passes, where at most schools they are just used as a blocking back for the running back. Pitt is very thin depth wise at this position, by the time Mike arrives on campus, he will be only the 3rd fullback on scholarship, and one of them will be a senior, so Mike has a great chance to play early in his career.
