Pitt lands super recruit Afa Anoai

He is the son of a professional wrestler by the same name and is the cousin of former Miami, FL. football player Duane Johnson, who everyone knows as "The Rock." Afa, who plays for Freedom High School, had 75 tackles and 6 sacks as a junior.  Recruiting guru Tom Lemming list's Afa among the top 100 recruits in the country and one of the top 19 defensive lineman in the entire country!!! Per Prepstar, Afa can bench press 330, squat 640 and deadlift 600 lb's. Prepstar listed Oregon, Syracuse, Iowa, PSU, Maryland, Rutgers and WVU as the other schools after Afa's talents. Freedom High coach Jim Morgan said Afa is the best defensive lineman he has coached in his 30 years of coaching football. His coach went on to say Afa is very tough and has a great temperament for defense. Afa also plays fullback on offense and will be much more involved in the offense this year per coach Morgan. Afa has seen the facilities at PSU, Syracuse and Rutgers and said That Pitt's are the best he has seen. Tom Freeman, the offensive line coach for Pitt who handles recruiting in Eastern, PA. was responsible for much of Afa's recruiting and Afa went out of his way to say how impressed he was with coach Freeman. With another year to get even bigger, stronger and faster, look for Afa to play very early in his Pitt career. Afa is the 3rd early verbal for the recruiting class of 2003.
