PITT offers Florida OT

University of Pittsburgh Head Football Coach Dave Wannstedt is looking to add a pair of large and athletic offensive tackles to the Panthers' class of 2007. Pitt has extended an offer to blue-chip prospect from Lauderdale Lakes, FL. The PantherDigest.com recently spoke with this prospect about his future.

"I was surprised when the offer from Pittsburgh came," stated towering offensive tackle prospect Branden Curry (6-foot-6 inches, 300 pounds) from Boyd H. Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. "They attended one of my practices and really must have seen something they liked. I plan on getting to know more about them."

Curry was a first-team All-County selection as a junior. He went the entire season without allowing a sack. Pitt, South Carolina and Florida International have extended offers to Brandon.

"I'm looking for a school with solid academics and a strong coaching staff. The size of the school is important to me as well. I don't want a small school. I want a larger school that will allow me to experience more and meet more people."

When asked specifically about Pitt, he stated, "To be honest, I know they have a pretty solid program, but I don't know enough about them. Their early scholarship offer tells me they want me. I'm going to have to visit them."

"I have excellent technique. I can shut down defensive ends. Whether they're a speed or power rusher, I can handle them. I'm big and strong. I spend a lot of time in the weight room."

Florida, Oklahoma, LSU and Florida State are string to keep in close contact with Curry. He indicated that Florida was close to offering a scholarship offer. The Panthers are in hot pursuit of Brandon's teammate Josh Bynes. Bynes, one of the top linebackers in the state of Florida, holds offers from a number of top programs including Pitt, Auburn and Louisville.

"I want to go to a school that needs offensive tackles. It looks like Pittsburgh could use my help. I plan on learning more about them."
