PITT offers the "Zach Attack"

University of Pittsburgh Head Coach Dave Wannstedt hasn't been shy about his fondness for running the ball. He is perpetually searching for quality running backs. It appears that PITT has offered a scholarship to an outstanding running back from Florida.

"Coach (Dave) Wannstedt stopped at my school a week ago and told my coach he was real interested in me. He said they would probably offer me. Well, the offer came through today," stated bruising running back Zacchaeus Brown (5-foot-11 inches, 200 pounds) from Royal Palm High School in Royal Palm Beach, FL. "I'm very excited. Pittsburgh was the offer I wanted. I have been waiting for it."

Brown rushed for 650 yards on 83 carries as a junior. He has been a two-year starter at running back. Zacchaeus is capable of running a 4.55 forty-yard dash and squatting 400 pounds.

"I have scholarship offers from West Virginia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Ohio University, Georgia Tech and Troy State. A few schools have really put themselves into the mix and I owe it to them to look. Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and Wisconsin stand out to me. The Panthers are still my leader."

Brown is a leader on and off the field. He has an outstanding 3.4 grade point average. Zach is considered a powerful north-south runner with breakaway speed. The Wildcats finished with a 6-3 record last season.

"I had talked with two running backs from Florida, Bo Williams (Northeast High School) and Xavier Stinson (Chaminade-Madonna High School) at combines and they had told me that Pittsburgh had offered them. I was growing a little frustrated but it was worth the wait. I'm feeling great about the offer from the Panthers."

"Charlie Partridge and I are real tight. He's a really cool and I feel comfortable with him. He's the main coach recruiting me."

Brown happens to know future Panther and class of 2006 commitment Tamarcus Porter fairly well. Will "TJ" lure the "Zach Attack" to Pittsburgh? "I'm going to call Tamarcus as soon as I can," said Brown. "We have talked about the Panthers before, but I want to hear more. I have loved everything I have heard about the school."

"I'm going to sit down with my parents within the next day or two and talk about summer camps. Hopefully I can get to Pittsburgh this summer."
