Kasparek ready to impress

The University of Pittsburgh football program will soon be hosting a number of talented prospects over the new few weeks at the Dave Wannstedt summer football camp. A rather large prospect hoping to impress the coaches at Pitt happens to be Zac Kasparek (6-foot-6 inches, 300 pounds) from New Brighton Area High School in New Brighton, PA.

"I just returned from West Virginia's camp. I was there last Sunday," stated towering offensive tackle prospect Zac Kasparek. "I'm getting ready to head down to Pitt on Friday for a one day session. The last camp I'm going to will be Penn State. I leave the following Wednesday."

Cincinnati, Marshall and Akron have extended Kasparek scholarship offers. He's a solid student with a 3.6 grade point average. Zac bench presses 300 pounds and runs the forty-yard dash in 5.35 seconds.

"Coach (Bob) Junko and Coach (Paul) Dunn came to my high school before to evaluate me. They told my coach that really wanted to take a close look at me and they believe I could earn a scholarship with a solid showing at their camp."

Kasparek has been working diligently to improve his strength, speed and conditioning. He has hired a personal trainer and the fruits of his efforts are starting to show. "I have been working out all the time with a personal trainer. I weight 300 pounds but I'm only 14% body fat," he said.

"I really want to put on a show at the Panthers camp. I want to show them that I can play and deserve a scholarship offer."

When asked about his strengths, he stated, "My work ethic will speak for itself. I have excellent footwork and size. I'm pretty athletic for my size."
