Derek Moye visits Pitt

University of Pittsburgh Head Football Coach Dave Wannstedt is steadfast about adding talented players from Western Pennsylvania. One of the most talented wide receiver prospects in the WPIAL hails from Rochester, PA and currently holds a scholarship offer from the Panthers. Derek Moye recently visited the Pitt during their 7-on-7 passing tournament.

"I visited Pitt during their 7-on-7 tournament and it was nice," stated Derek Moye (6-foot-5 inches, 175 pounds) from Rochester High School. "I spent the day there and got to spend time with a bunch of the staff members. It was nice."

Moye was named All-Conference and All-League as a junior. He rushed for 1,131 yards on 131 carries and scored 17 touchdowns. Derek caught 24 passes for 536 yards and nine touchdowns.

"I'm down to four schools: Pitt, Boston College, Penn State and Maryland," said Moye. "I don't have one ahead of the other right now. I have spent some more time with the coaches at Pitt and I like them quite a bit. I really didn't know that much about the Panthers and I have learned a lot between the 7-on-7 tournament and their summer football camp."

Moye attended the All-American camp held at the UPMC Southside practice facilities in Pittsburgh, PA. He performed exceptionally well in the one-on-one drills and recorded a 31-inch vertical jump.

"Coach (Bob) Junko introduced me to Pat Bostick when I was there. He was a cool guy and it was nice to meet him. It's nice to know if I want to Pitt that he would be there at least three to four years. He has a strong arm."

"I know that Pitt has some great incoming receivers but they don't have any with my size. Most of the schools I'm looking at need tall receivers. I'm not leaning towards anyone right now. My goal is to visit my top four and make a decision from there."

"I like the Panthers and it would be nice to play close to home. They have a great staff and I have enjoyed getting to know them."
