Drager comments on Pitt scholarship offer

The University of Pittsburgh has recently added two outstanding players from Thomas Jefferson High School (Clairton, PA): linebacker Nate Nix and athlete Dom DiCicco. Head Football Coach Dave Wannstedt recently offered a third player from the same school. Will he join his teammates? Read on for details.

"I was really happy when Pitt offered me a scholarship. I was starting to wonder if it would come," stated tight end/defensive end Chris Drager (6-foot-4 inches, 235 pounds). "Now that they offered I have a lot to think about. Nate (Nix) and Dom (DiCicco) are both going there and it would be great to play with them."

Drager is capable of playing tight end and defensive end on the next level. He caught 17 passes for 265 yards and scored 1 touchdown as a junior. Chris registered 53 tackles and 9 sacks on defense.

"My main offers are from Pitt, Virginia Tech, Stanford, Maryland, West Virginia and Vanderbilt. I like Pitt a lot. The coaches are great and Pitt is my hometown school and close to home. My family could come and see me play. I like them quite a bit."

When asked about his strengths on the football field, he stated, "On defense, I'm a really good pass rusher. I can get to the quarterback. My sophomore year I had 7 quarterback sacks. My junior year I had 8 sacks and a bunch of knockdowns. On offense, I'm a strong run blocker and run stuffer."

"The coaches at Pitt aren't sure if I'll end up on offense or defense. They want to see how my body fills out. I can probably add another 20 to 30 pounds. Most people believe I'll fill out to 255 to 260 pounds."

Chris is capable of running a 4.75 forty-yard dash, bench pressing 270 pounds and squatting 360 pounds. Scout.com Big East Analyst Bob Lichtenfels ranks him the 26th best player in the state of Pennsylvania.

"I'm going to make my decision in early August. The Panthers are in my top two or three right now. I like them a lot and I'm glad the offer came through."
