Florida WR enjoys Pitt visit

The University of Pittsburgh recently hosted a number of talented recruits at the Dave Wannstedt football camp. One of the most talented prospects in attendance was wide receiver Darian Williams from Northeast High School in Oakland Park, FL. Was he impressed with Pitt? Read on for details.

Wide receiver Darian Williams (6-foot-1 inches, 185 pounds) from Northeast High School in Oakland Park, FL recently attended the Dave Wannstedt football camp. He was accompanied by two of his teammates: Bo Williams and Josh Hartigan. The talented trio ventured to Pittsburgh holding scholarship offers from the Panthers. None of them knew what to expect. Williams, like his talented teammates, walked away highly impressed.

"Wow, I really liked Pittsburgh. I already have broken down my top five and they are right at the top of that list," stated Williams. "I have over 20 scholarship offers, but I the teams that stand out are Pitt, Tennessee, Arizona State, Central Florida and Auburn. I already have an official visit set to Arizona State. I'm talking to Coach (Charlie) Partridge about setting the next one to Pitt."

Williams (pictured below) finished his junior year with 29 catches for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns. He's considered the top wide receive in Broward County this season. Panthers' assistant Charlie Partridge is responsible for his recruitment. Darian is capable of running a 4.5 forty-yard dash.

"I really liked Coach (Dave) Wannstedt. He's a great guy and he has plenty of professional experience. The facilities were the best that I have seen. They are an up and coming team. My teammates and I have talked about going there."

When asked about his strengths, he replied, "I'm a good all around receiver. I have speed, I can separate from the defender well and I have no fear going over the middle."

"I want to go to the school I feel most comfortable at. A solid blend of athletics and academics is important to me as well. I have seen Pitt, Tennessee and Central Florida. Once I visit Arizona State and Auburn, I should have an idea of what each school is like. Right now, Pitt and Arizona State seem to stand out."
